Const. Cadieux was suspended, with pay, as required under the Nova Scotia Police Act, and remained so until charges against him were stayed last week.
"At this time and as the case evolved, it was clear to us that there was no realistic prospect of conviction," said Chris Hansen, spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service.
